Just across the Tennessee River from downtown, North Chattanooga is a vibrant area filled with dining, shopping and an eclectic combination of tourists and locals. In recent years, Frazier Avenue, Cherokee Boulevard and Manufacturers Road have grown tremendously and are now commonly referred to as the North Shore. Two of Chattanooga’s most popular landmarks can be found along the North Shore: Coolidge Park and the Walnut Street Bridge. Just a few blocks from the Walnut Street Bridge, tourists and locals also enjoy Renaissance Park, home to nature trails and a hillside slide.

Students attending public school in North Chattanooga may be zoned for Rivermont Elementary, Normal Park Elementary, Red Bank Elementary, Red Bank Middle, Normal Park Upper or Red Bank High. Rivermont Elementary adopted the STEAM program in 2017, focusing on science, technology, engineering, arts and math. Normal Park School is one of Hamilton County’s magnet schools, enrolling students from within its school zone and from a lottery drawing. Chattanooga Center for the Creative Arts is also a public magnet school located in North Chattanooga, enrolling students in grades six through twelve. Two of the Chattanooga area’s nationally recognized private schools, The Bright School and Girls Preparatory School, are also located in North Chattanooga.
