Happy Valentine’s Day! With all the mushy, gushy love in the air, there is no shortage of ways to show your love, whether it is flowers from local florists like Grafe Studio or handcrafted chocolates from Remebrandt’s Coffee House.No matter if you are single or madly in love, there are plenty of fun things to keep you occupied this weekend and help burn off the chocolate. Here are your best bets for a fun Valentine weekend in Chattanooga.

 

80’s Valentine’s Day Extravaganza

Flowers and chocolates not your thing? Check out tonight’s fun at The Flying Squirrel, where the 80’s attitude towards love is taking over. 80’s inspired cocktails and food (sushi and hot pockets?) from 5 on and music and dancing beginning at 9 will get your heart racing. “Don’t you forget about me.” The Flying Squirrel 55 Johnson Street. Looking for somewhere a little different to have your Valentine dinner? Check out Embargo ’62, Chattanooga’s premier Cuban restaurant. Enjoy excellent Cuban food in a very cool designed and decorated restaurant. You and your valentine can savor mojitos and listen to the special Valentine tunes selected by the DJ. Adopt A Valentine

Whether  you a member of the lonely hearts club or just looking for a family pet, Saturday you can adopt your newest true love. HES will be at Nooga Paws with adoptable dogs at reduced adoption fees. These shelter pets are ones that have been looking for their soul mate for three months or more. Adopt one of these long time dog residents for just $14. Adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccines, spay or neuter surgery and a microchip. Nooga Paws 313 Manufacturers Road Saturday 1-4 pm

 

Italian Feast on the Farm

If you have never been to Crabtree Farm you are missing out on one of Chattanooga’s true gems. Part farm, part outdoor class room, this unique urban farm is located just minutes from downtown Chattanooga. Saturday the  education coordinator, Rachel Gray has agreed to lead an afternoon of creating an Italian feast from start-to-finish. On the menu that day: meat lasagna, bread, salad with dressing and a sweet treat. Participants are welcome to bring their favorite wine or beer. Participants will go home with recipes, lots of knowledge and full bellies. Contact Melissa Astin for more info mastin@crabtreefarms.org. Aerial Intro Workshop

If you are looking for a new hobby and way to stay fit, there is a new and from what we understand, rewarding way to do it in Chattanooga. Aerial silks has been in Chattanooga for a few years and is steadily gaining popularity. Aerial silks is a type of performance in which one or more artists perform aerial acrobatics while hanging from a fabric. The fabric may be hung as two pieces, or a single piece, folded to make a loop, classified as hammock silks. Chattanooga Aerials offers introductory workshops first and third Sunday of every month for  to all things Aerial. These workshops include professional instruction catered to your level for 2 straight hours on trapeze, sling, and silks with zero previous experience necessary. $50 for 2 hours, bring a friend or Valentine and the fee is $90.  More info online.
