What Is Going On In Chattanooga This Weekend

This weekend is one of the most looked forward to weekends of the year in Chattanooga. The 24 hour block party, MainX24 is held on the Chattanooga Southside and features a full 24 hours of food, fun, and frivolity, showcasing one of Chattanooga’s most eclectic and interesting neighborhoods. We have been attending since the inception in 2007.

What started as a project of CreateHere to attract local businesses to the Southside is now a fully community run event with hundreds of participants beginning with a pancake breakfast on Saturday morning and going full steam until coffee the next morning. Showcasing local artist, businesses and the overall Southside community, the events change from year to year (flashmob yoga, anyone?).

The highlight of the entire event is the old school community parade which features everything from dogs to racing lawnmowers, marching bands and  even a judge marrying people on a float. Art cars, art bicycles and pretty much anything anyone can think up can be entered, including a group of runners dressed in costume.

With something for everyone from open house shopping at local merchants, big wheel racing for charity, arts and crafts for kids and lots of live music and food, this is one of Chattanooga’s best traditions. Plan on arriving early and stay late, learning a little more about what makes Chattanooga so wonderful. Free to attend, the full schedule of events is available online.

We hope to see you Saturday at one of the fun events. Look for us, we might be in the parade!
