Summer Camp in Chattanooga

Spring is in the air, daffodils are blooming and it is time to start signing your kids up for summer camp! That’s right! The end of school is in 12 weeks and you don’t want to miss out on finding somewhere for those precious love bugs to spend their days! Chattanooga has a plethora of camp options from morning camps to sleep away for the entire summer (we are just 30 minutes from the southeast summer camp Mecca… Mentone, Alabama). Here are some of my favorite choices for summer camp.

Tennessee Aquarium Camp

My children went to Aquarium camp for years. This camp was hands down one daughter’s favorite, mostly because they offered good snacks (she’s my second child and easy to please). Snack aside, this is a great camp that really engages the little people and educates the older ones. The options are seemingly endless with basic half day “stay at the Aquarium” camp where they get hands on with the animals, do crafts, play in the outdoor water feature and of course, have snacks, longer days with cooperative events at Reflection Riding, Highpoint Climbing and Coolidge Park, and for teens, learning experiences that include camp outs and white water rafting. The Tennessee Aquarium camp really grows with your child and keeps them engaged for life. Prices range from $95-415 depending on age and activities. Registration opens March 7th and fills up quickly, so mark your calendars.

TechTown Camp

New on the scene in Chattanooga, Tech Town is offering summer camps for kids of all ages to introduce and reinforce skills such as coding, videography, web design and robotics. The camps are all summer long, each 5 days and cost an average of $250. Registration is open (there is an early bird discount until March 31st) and can be accessed online. These sound like really fun options…wonder if they have adult summer camp options? Tech Town is located at 325 Market Street.

Chattanooga Zoo Camp

Chattanooga is fortunate to have a wonderful zoo. In recent years, the Chattanooga Zoo has undergone a huge transformation and is truly a wonderful place to take children for an afternoon or to summer camp if they love animals. The variety of animals and size of the zoo (on the smaller side) makes it the perfect size for kids and for parents! Offering morning camp for pre schoolers and all day for kids in kindergarten through 8th grade, the Chattanooga Zoo Camp experience includes a field trip, pool day at the Warner Park pool and splash park, crafts, animal interaction and more! Campers in 4-8th grade even get to spend the night in the zoo when the animals are most active. Camp ranges from $105-190 with a discount for zoo members. Details can be found online and registration opens soon. 301 N. Holtzclaw Ave.

ART 120 Summer Camp

Art 120 is an organization created to strengthen the Chattanooga community through art. We love the idea of a better Chattanooga through art! Summer camp options available summer 2016 through ART 120 are really cool as well! Maker camps ranging from art bike camp, build your own computer all the way to digital story telling and the ever popular art car camp (the art car competition is held yearly in Chattanooga) are available all summer long. Classes range from $380-500, range in number of days (1-2 week average) and are quickly filling up!

Camp Ocoee

The child who loved cheese puffs has graduated to sleep away camp. Her favorite is located on one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the area, Parksville Lake. The YMCA Camp Ocoee has children that attend from all over the country so kids get to meet new people and make fast friends for life. Outdoor activities from hiking, climbing, ropes course, swimming, skiing, horseback riding and more offered and the food is great (according to my daughter). Campers range from 7-15 years of age and can stay one week up to the entire summer. Cost starts at $590 per week. Ocoee, Tennessee.

There are hundreds of options for summer camp in Chattanooga. Most schools, including McCallie, Girls Preparatory School and Notre Dame offer great options. Chattanooga is located just a short drive from Menton, Alabama home to dozens of summer camps. Now is the time to register!
