Happy Easter! In typical southern fashion, it will be a cool and breezy weekend. There are so many fun things going on in Chattanooga this weekend, you will be hopping around like a bunny to hit them all. With most people making it a three day weekend, there are plenty of opportunities for fun. Here are your best bets for a very Easter weekend in Chattanooga.
Bunny Train
Chattanooga loves its trains and the Bunny Train is the newest installation in the themed train rides. If you child (or you) love trains, this is a very fun way to get in some unique fun and see the Easter bunny himself. The train boards in at Grand Junction and at the end, there are games, story telling, egg hunt and of course opportunity for photos with the Easter Bunny. Tickets are $23 per person (2 and up) and there are 7 opportunities for trips.
Chattery’s Great Adult Egg Hunt and Hoppy Hour
Adult’s love egg hunts, too and The Chattery knows that fact! Their Second Annual Great Adult Egg Hunt & Hoppy Hour is on Saturday. This second annual event combines the arts, community collaboration, and of course, education. Many local artists have created one-of-a-kind works of art on an evergreen wooden egg, and adult participants will search for the eggs at Sculpture Fields. Post hunt, there is a “Hop” down Main Street during ” Hoppy Hour” (I crack myself up). The hunt starts at 2 pm with hop starting at 4 pm. Tickets are $7 and all proceeds benefits The Chattery.
Earth Day
This year marks the 49th annual Earth Day. This weekend, Rock Creek and Reflection Riding join forces for the second year in a row to educate and celebrate with the Earth Day Festival. Friday, there are events that include classes on how to plant for hummingbirds, a native plant sale and a moonlight paddle search for nocturnal animals just to name a few. Saturday, the day starts with the Hare Raiser 5k and fun run, then proceeds with more classes, plant sale and more. Food, yoga, pet adoption and classes on both how to live a more environmentally friendly life and how to grow a local garden are just some of the attractions. More details online. Free to the public. If you are a early riser and are looking for an outdoor service, Stuart Heights Worship Choir and Orchestra along with Senior Pastor, Gary Jared will be in Coolidge Park for a 100,000 Easter egg hunt followed by a praise concert and fellowship. This is a free event and open to the entire city. Bring an Easter basket for your little one and a chair or blanket for the service and enjoy and outdoor service. Park opens at 8 am. Hunt is at 9 am.
