What is Going On in Chattanooga This Weekend

This August has been glorious! The typical hot and sticky days have been at a minimum, so we have been able to maximize our days outside. After work drinks and hikes have been an almost weekly habit.  Getting out and enjoying our lakes, rivers and mountains is a joy year round in Chattanooga but when the humidity is low, it is a dream situation. Whether you are visiting our fair city this weekend or are a local looking for something fun to do,  here are your best bets.

Sip and Hop

We all stalk design websites and blogs. Admit it, you do it as well.  Dash and Albert rugs pop up on just about every design blog I read. Tonight from 5-7, Huck & Peck is hosting a Dash and Albert event complete with up to 50% off, sips and door prizes.  1251 West 31st Street.

Rail & Hops Festival

Love beer? (Silly question, I know). Love being outdoors with your fellow beer lovers?  Saturday, Chattanooga of old and Chattanooga up and coming converge at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo. The Glenn Miller Gardens, named after the  big band trombonist who put Chattanooga on the map with his The Chattanooga Choo Choo, is home to the inaugural Rail & Hops Brewers Festival.  Featuring samples of more than 50 beers from 25 breweries, local food on site and live music from some of Chattanooga’s most exciting bands. Tickets are $45 in advance for general admission or $50 the day of the event. Tickets and more information online.  Saturday, 6-11. 1400 Market Street.

Tomato Pie Contest

There is really not much more southern and summer than tomato pie. I have a love affair with the dish, so tomorrow you will find me shopping the Brainerd Farmer’s market and stalking the  Killer Tomato Pie contest.  You can enter by bringing your own pie to the market or be a taster for $2. The winner takes home a gift certificate and the coveted title of Best Tomato Pie.  Sponsored by our local pie lady, Mama Crunk’s Pies. The Brainerd Market is located in the parking lot of Grace Episcopal Church and is open 10-12 pm.  20 Belvoir Ave.

SUP Full Moon Adventure

I went paddle boarding last week to watch the bats leave the cave on Nickajack. It was so cool to be out on the water at night with friends, watching the bats and experiencing the calm water. Sunday you can have a similar experience. Sunshine’s Adventures is hosting a guided SUP adventure on Chickamauga lake. Never paddle boarded or SUP’d? No worries, instruction and water safety is included, as is  your board, PFD and lights.  7:30-9:30. Reservations required. Contact Sunshine’s Adventures for more info and to reserve.
